Setting Up the Microsoft Teams Integration with Guusto

A Complete Guide for Administrators

Written by Sreeja

💡 Note: The Microsoft Teams integration is available on our premium subscription plan.

Why Integrate Microsoft Teams with Guusto?

Enhance employee engagement by bringing recognition directly into your communication platform. The Guusto–Microsoft Teams integration is easy to set up, maintenance-free, and intuitive—no IT skills or extra training required.

Before You Begin

  • Ensure you're an admin in both Guusto and Microsoft Teams.

  • Consider creating a dedicated company Teams account
(e.g., [email protected]) to set up the webhook. This avoids showing individual names (e.g., [email protected]) when webhooks execute actions.

Integration Setup Steps

Step 1: Create a Recognition Channel in MS Teams

  1. In Microsoft Teams, select the desired Team.

  2. Click on ... (More Options) > Add Channel.

  3. Name the channel (e.g., “Recognition” or “Shoutouts”).

Set visibility and notifications preferences as desired.

If you already have a recognition channel, you can skip this step.

Step 2: Create a Workflow

  1. Navigate to the existing Recognition Channel or to a new one you’ve just created.

  2. Click on ... (More Options) > Add Workflow.

  3. Select “Post to a Channel when a Webhook Request is Received” as the workflow type.

  4. Complete the workflow setup and copy the webhook URL at the end.

Step 3: Add Webhook URL to Guusto

  1. Log into your Guusto admin dashboard.

  2. Go to Workspaces > Settings > Integrations.

  3. Select Microsoft Teams and paste the webhook URL.

  4. Save your changes.

You’re all set! Recognition messages will now post automatically in your selected MS Teams channel.

🛠️ Troubleshooting Integration Issues

If the integration doesn’t work as expected:

  • Verify Webhook Configuration: Double-check the webhook URL and ensure it's correctly linked to your recognition workflow in Teams.

  • Refresh the Webhook: If broken, contact Guusto Support to help refresh or reconfigure the webhook.

FAQ: Microsoft Teams + Guusto

  • Can I use the dashboard filter for Workspace Members in Guusto to create teams in Microsoft Teams?
We recommend moving all active members of their recognition program into a new MS Teams team with the same people in Guusto.
All activity from a Guusto Workspace will push directly into a Microsoft Teams team, which is why the team creation is an important step.

  • I don’t have Shoutouts/gifting enabled for my team! Can members send restricted features from Microsoft Teams?
While both options will be present from the Guusto app, recognition activity is limited to your Workspace abilities. For example, you will not be able to send a Shoutout if your Workspace does not normally have it enabled.

  • Can I add the same webhook to multiple gift Workspaces?
Only one Workspace can be linked to one channel. You may have a new channel with a new Workspace linked to it. The ideal situation would be that once a Workspace has been linked to a channel, you can only use that Workspace for that channel. That way, you can only use those Workspace funds for sending gifts to members on that MS Teams team.
