When uploading a CSV file to the Guusto platform to perform an action in bulk (team member upload, bulk gift order, pre-loaded recipients), certain words and names will involve special characters (é, è, ñ, ø, etc.). When these special characters are uploaded to the Guusto platform with the incorrect file type, they will appear as a question mark in a box instead of the intended special character.

To avoid this problem, please ensure that the CSV format that you are using is the CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) file type. An example is shown below as to what that might look like.

If you have selected this file type and you're still encountering the special characters problem when uploading a file, it's possible that your system is defaulting the file to a different file type after the save.

To avoid this problem, please try uploading your CSV file into Google Drive as a Google Sheets document. From there, re-download the file as a CSV UTF-8 file and then without making further edits, upload it into the Guusto platform.

If that still doesn't work, please let our team know at [email protected] so that we can investigate. :D

Happy Gifting!
