🏷️ Who Can Use This Feature?

The ability to redeem gifts internationally is available to organizations on the Premium Plan. If you're not on the Premium Plan and would like to explore it, please reach out to our team.


✨ Enabling the Global Merchants Feature (For Admins)

To allow recipients to redeem gifts worldwide, the Global Merchants feature must be activated in the gift sender’s/Admin's account.

To activate Global Merchants:

  1. Navigate to your Workspace Settings.

  2. Proceed to Merchants section.

  3. Toggle Global Merchants to ON.

Once activated, recipients will have access to a wide range of international merchant options.

  • Fund your team in multiple currencies (CAD and USD) to enable toggling and flexibility across regions.

  • Remember: once a gift is redeemed, the selected merchant cannot be changed.

  • Test the feature internally to ensure everything works smoothly before sending international gifts broadly.


🎁 How Do Recipients Redeem an International Gift?

The steps for redeeming an international gift are nearly identical to redeeming a regular gift. The only difference is that the list of available merchants may vary depending on:

  • The currency the gift was sent in

  • Whether the Global Merchants feature is enabled

💱 Currency Conversion

When a gift is redeemed internationally, the currency is converted automatically based on the current exchange rate at the time of redemption. No additional action is required by the gift sender or recipient—Guusto handles the conversion seamlessly to make the process easy and transparent.

Why my merchant is grayed out?

If merchants appear grayed out, it's often because the redeemer hasn’t entered the correct denomination. Users should double-check the amount they’ve entered to ensure it matches one of the accepted values. If the issue still isn’t resolved, they can then contact our support team for further help.


Why isn't the currency conversion reflected on my gift?

If you do not see the currency conversion reflected when redeeming your gift, we recommend reaching out internally to your admin. They’ll need to make sure the Global Merchants feature is enabled on their end.
